It's hard to believe that just a few years ago, I was an awkward mid-twenty-something tomboy who was really curious about makeup, but just didn't really know where to start. Thanks, in part to my friend Keri, my 'gateway drug' to beauty products was nail polish, as I constantly needed colour on my nails to make sure I didn't bite them anymore. Smash cut to five years later and my polish collection is HUGE and full of beauties... just like this one.
Introducing... The Sisterhood of the Travelling Polish by Eat Sleep Polish!
The Sisterhood of the Travelling Polish is a custom made by one of my favourite polishmakers, Eat Sleep Polish. Cat, the creator, makes these amazing holographic polishes that really shine in daylight, but also impress in indoor light as well. Her polishes are very multi-faceted and while I have a small collection of her wares, some real polish-addicts hunt, swap and trade to collect all of her customs, rares and one-offs. Also? She's Canadian!
But this polish isn't just ANY Eat Sleep Polish polish. This is a special custom made for a very specific purpose - to be mailed and shared between myself and a few other close polish bloggers I'm friends with. This polish is going to travel all across Canada from Quebec, to British Columbia, Ontario and more! And what a polish it is!
I have to admit, I'm not usually a fan of purple polish. I mean, I love pastel or lavender shades, but darker purple aren't usually my favourite... until now. TSOTTP is this very deep violet, not quite as deep as a grape colour, but too dark to be orchid, with a lot of blue and green holo in it. I don't think I captured the true beauty of this polish as it was pretty gloomy the week I got it, but Tina who sent it to me, shot some really amazing shots on her blog if you want to compare.
While each of the sisters get to play with the polish for some good-lookin' swatches, we each also get the chance to do an interesting nail-look with this stunner! I chose to use another Eat Sleep Polish, Flutterina, and did a little graphic slice on the tips of my nails. The two colours worked PERFECT and Flutterina's frosty lavender was the perfect match for TSOTTP's grape-like finish.
And while I was sad to say goodbye to this gorgeous colour, I was happy to pass it along to Amber to see what she'll do with this impressive shade. You can follow along as the polish travels from blogger to blogger with the links below!
