I received this product for free from the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club.
Every year there are more and more products on the shelf in the drug store competing for our eyes and our wallets. New, trendy brands trying to make a name in the industry, old companies consistently rebranding and tweaking their image, and classic brands just doing what they're good at and have BEEN good at for a long time. And while I've been an Aveeno user for over a decade, I have to admit they were one of those latter brands I kept forgetting about, but now they have my attention.
During my late teens and early twenties, I suffered from mild excema, and while I had a few medicated creams to use, I absolutely HATED THEM. They always smelled bad, were greasy and didn't absorb nicely into my skin. Eventually a kind doctor told me that Aveeno was a good product for people with excema, particularly their fragrance free collection and I knew I had to try it. Pretty quickly, I was hooked. Aveeno worked with my excema, my skin sensitivities and my wallet!
While 'fragrance free' and 'sensitive' aren't sexy taglines for a brand, I wanted to mention that to highlight that while I may review L'Occitane or Sun Bum here and there, the majority of my basics are drug store products and there are so many of them worth your time and attention. And while Aveeno still has a variety of lines for sensitivites and for people who require fragrance-free options, the Positively Radiant line is more about revitalizing your skin instead, leaving it brighter, softer and enhancing what you already have in no time.
These products came to me in late spring, right after the ridiculously dry winter we all had to suffer though, and my skin had taken a BEATING. I had more dry patches than usual, my skin was drier in general and things were not looking particularly great. Despite my drier skin in the winter, I don't generally use exfoliating body washes, so I was concerned the exfoliants in Aveeno's Positively Radiant Body Wash might irritate me, but the exfoliating particles were not as dense as they are in other exfoliating products, and they did an amazing job tackling my dry and flaky skin, while also leaving it nourished and smooth after my shower. And I was super happy to learn that the exfoliants were NOT micro beads, but were particles made from walnut shells instead. Yay!
When it came to the Aveeno Positively Radiant Body Lotion, I wasn't used to having fragrance in an Aveeno lotion since I normally grab the fragrance free collection, but I found the scent to be very fresh, green and bright. The lotion, like most Aveeno products, was non-greasy, absorbed well and did a great job moisturizing my skin overnight as I tend to get dry patches on my arms. The only thing I wasn't a HUGE fan of, is the shimmer in the lotion, it's not too visible but I'd rather leave shimmer to my highlighters, not my body lotion.
You can buy Aveeno Positively Radiant from pretty much anywhere you can find Aveeno products so I definitely recommend giving it a try.
