PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME IT'S PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME.
Some of you may not remember this song below but when it came out ten years ago, I, a FULL GROWN ADULT at the time, loved it unreasonably more than I should've. WHICH is exactly how I feel about Too Faced's Peanut Butter & Jelly eyeshadow palette! EVERY TIME I bring this palette out to play, I can't get this out of my mind.
When it launched, this palette flummoxed Canadians for two reasons. 1) It's an Ulta exclusive and Ulta doesn't ship to Canada, and 2) SOMEHOW the Too Faced Canada website STILL SOLD some of these before they sold out/removed it super quickly and never brought it back again.
But luckily a VERY NICE border-Canadian made a pitstop in the States and bought a few, selling and shipping them to us for no extra fee (Thanks Angel!) and this puppy was in my hands mere days later. I've used it a bunch of times now, once even at Generation Beauty but I've neglected to write about it!
The packaging: I LOVE a good aluminium case, and this is probably one of the cutest ones I've ever seen. I know some people FOR SOME REASON don't like the cutesy-ness but I LOVE IT. It's also not super big so it is a good traveller and the tin is a really easy grabbable size. Did I mention it also has that coveted cocoa powder Too Faced smell? Heaven!
The colours: Split into three very easy looks, the palette comes with a little guide that shows you how to quickly make a great look from the shades. Each are lined up according to their use. The three base shades are PERFECT and can be used mixed and matched with anything, but here are the suggested looks.
Soft & Sweet uses: Spread the Love, a peach-toned shade with a touch of gold shimmer, Peanut Butter which is a slightly orangey matte brown, and Peanut Butter Cup which is a golden-y bronze metallic with some gold sparkle for good measure.
Rich & Creamy uses: Bananas, a gold with a hint of peach with a LOT of bright gold shimmer, the super metallic coppery Peanut Brittle and, my favourite, a dark eggplant Jammin' which is loaded with gold sparkles.
Finally, PB & J uses: Extra Creamy which is a perfect matte creamy/champagney beige, the bright vibrant violet of Jelly and Nuts About U which is almost a dirty brown-red brick colour.
The payoff: This is my first Too Faced palette and I so far have no regrets. The colours are highly pigmented, long-lasting, buttery and beautiful. I have received so many compliments on the 'looks' I've made, both with the recommendations from the Too Faced manual and on my own.
The verdict: Probably one of my favourite beauty products that I own right now. This little bad-boy is the perfect warm neutral palette for me where I can do a soft look and also a colourful look just by changing up my shades. It also doesn't hurt that I SMILE every time I open the lid. This thing was a Covet Clique item I'm SO GLAD I fought to get.
You can buy the Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Eyeshadow Palette for $36 USD at Ulta, i KNOW some stores are still carrying it. But TOO BAD Canadians, you'll need a mule for this one.
