This is the fourth in my series of posts about my April Lipstick Challenge. Learn about the challenge and the rules, or check out what I wore for days 1-8 and days 9-12!
After the highs of days 9-12, I knew that my streak couldn't last. This was a bit of an odd week with two duds. I even had a few people ask if I was still doing the challenge anymore because they couldn't tell!
So what were these colours?
- Avon Belle Belle
- Make Up For Ever N9 (Copper Pink)
- NYC Liquid Lip Shine
- Clinique A Different Grape
Avon ColorTrend Belle Belle
I'm a bit embarassed to review this product at all because I can't even remember when I got it. It's old, kids. Very old. So old that the Color Trend line isn't even SOLD ANYMORE. This was the one thing I was dreading with this challenge but I went along with it to prove a point... hoarding crappy colours you don't like is really stupid. Buy colours you really enjoy and if it doesn't work out? Just toss it! Basically this is a baby pink for people who have never heard of tinted balm. My Baby Lips gives better coverage than this and it feels better too!
Make Up For Ever N9 (Copper Pink)
This little tube was part of last year's Sephora Birthday Gift and I literally have NOT USED IT until this challenge, it's unused! I think the reason I avoided this product was because the colour looks like a muted red, but surprisingly it comes across as a deep rosy hue instead. It's not nearly as subtle as Day 7's Estee Lauder, but it's definitely a softer shade. After the bold looks of the previous days in this challenge, it was nice to know I have some calmer shades for simpler looks. BONUS: The formula is hyper-moisturizing and lovely too (which was great because my lips were so chapped by this day!)
NYC Liquid Lip Shine
I can't even tell you what colour of this lipshine I have because despite only having it for a few months, its all worn down! All I can tell you is that this is the best cheapie liglosses I've ever owned. It smells like a vanilla latte, it's not drying, it doesn't leave that icky film between your lips. With regards to colour, while this gloss has a very simple sheen to it, it's pretty much colour-free, but I know some of the other shades deliver a pop of colour if you prefer a tinted gloss.
Clinique A Different Grape
I went into the end of this week dreading this colour, and that makes me feel kinda bad because I'd obviously forgotten how awesome A Different Grape is! I think the problem is that this lipstick is the most basic offering by Clinique, it's one of the regular shades they put in their gift with purchase offers (I've had at least three tubes of this colour!), so since I've always got it kicking around, it's not 'shiny and new' and I just tuck it away. But it's a great mid-weight plum! Formula wise it's quite moisturizing and while it does transfer, it's not unreasonable like my Rimmel from last week. And while it's not the longest-lasting, it just takes a quick swipe to refresh. I also received a half dozen compliments on this colour, so it's doing something right for me!
I'm sorry A Different Plum, I won't take you for granted again.
Next up? 17-20, coming soon!
