Rough, tough, scaly and dry. No, I'm not talking about bearded dragons, I'm talking about my feet! After a dry, cold winter it's almost time to break out my sandals and flip-flops and expose my toes to some sun! But they're going to need a bit of work before I get there! Before I go in for my first official pedicure of the season, I need to do some prep first. Luckily, I popped into L'Amour Beauty, a Korean/Japanese cosmetics store in Toronto, and grabbed a Leaders Clinic Mediu foot mask to make it all better!
Despite there being no English instructions, the cashier told me that I'd need to keep these on for 90 minutes to best results. Otherwise the visual instructions were pretty straightforward. The booties were a plastic bag material on the outside, but have a thin-paper mesh and are filled with this menthol/medical-y smelling goo. It felt weird but you eventually forget after awhile. Just put on some Netflix and you're good to go!
My only recommendation about this step in the process is to do this somewhere where you can keep your feet warm, the formula is very chilling after awhile and if you get cold feet like me, you'll freeeeze. I ended up throwing a blanket on them after awhile to keep warm!
The package says it takes 4-6 days but I know from other blogger's reviews that your results may vary.
Here's my day-to-day
Day 1 - NOTHING DOING.
Day 2 - I can feel the skin on my feet tightening a bit but no sign of peeling yet.
Day 3 - The first signs of peeling! The skin around my toes start peeling a bit but it's still pretty premature.
Day 4- On this day I went out at night and walked over 10,000 steps, so I KNEW there'd be some peeling. I didn't realize how MUCH THOUGH! I got home and crowed with delight and got to peeling.
The results? Literally baby soft feet. I plopped them in my boyfriend's lap that night and his eyes flew open. 'THEY'RE SO SOFT!!!'. I still have a few spots that are slowly peeling away but I expect my foot will be COMPLETELY NEW by day seven!
Day 8 - This was the FIRST day I felt comfortable wearing shoes without socks. I was still kinda scaly on the top of my foot and had some residual dry skin to flake off. But overall, great job!
Takeaways
- When you put the booties on, stay in a warm room! My feet were cold for hours!
- I wore tights or socks from Day 1 to Day 4 just in case my feet would peel in my shoes, I'm not sure how this would speed up/slow down the process if I wore my shoes bare.
- Don't feel tempted to peel until your feet are ready! Resist the urge!
- DON'T wear socks you like on day four. It was sooo grosss when I took off my sock that day, I had to wash them immediately!
- Not all your skin will come away all at once, the sides/top of my feet are still going on Day 5!
Overall, this product was great! I'd like to try a few more but this one was so perfect for my first full mask that I'd recommend it highly.
Where did I get it? I purchased this foot mask from L'Abour Beauty between University and Bay on Gerrard in Toronto. They have a BUNCH of different masks to choose from. Holika Holika also sells similar ones online.
