It's the most wonderful time of the year! It's time for the Elle Beauty Box, a fantastic freebie that Elle offers to its email newsletter subscribers every few months. This is the second box they've offered, and since all you have to do is be a member of their newsletter, it's a tiny price to pay for all the goodies.
Here's the Spring 2014 offerings!
- CoverGirl Bombshell Volume by Lashblast Mascara
Can't have a beauty box without a mascara. This Bombshell Volume looks interesting because it's a two-step system that coats the lashes first, then adds the volume. I'm currently rocking Benefit's They're Real mascara but this might join my work-makeup kit for some extra volumizing power during long days at work.
- Satin Care Shave Gel
Just in time for spring, the box also included this Olay-infused shaving gel and a coupon for a significant discount on a new Venus razor system. It's not the most exciting addition to the box, but it may actually be the most useful. It smells great and the Olay product in the gel leaves legs feeling moisturized after shaving.
- Pantene ProV Repair & Protect Shampoo and Conditioner
I was a little surprised to see this Pantene line in the Elle Beauty Box, Pantene has done a really good job in the last few months of promoting their sulfate-free lines and I've been using their Aqua Light for a few years. That said, I'm probably going to avoid this line since it tends to make thin hair look greasy after a few uses according to Makeup Alley reviews.
- Crest 3D Whitestrips 2 Hour Express (not pictured)
I've got a small collection of these white strips in my medicine cabinet, but I never remember to use them on a regular basis, so add another one to the pile.
Another great thing about this box is that it offers deluxe samples and then deluxe-priced coupons (well, mostly, as you'll see.)
- Venus Razor System & Satin Care Shave Gel
To tie in with the half-bottle of shave gel, the box also came with a $4-off coupon for a new Venus Razor System and $1.50 off a can of Satin Care Shave Gel.
- Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Permanent Hair Colour
I've been rocking my natural hair colour for five years now, but I'm sure I can pass off this $5 coupon to a friend who dyes their hair.
- Olay Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream
Oh joy, another overpriced anti-aging product! The box came with a $3-off coupon for a $30+ product, so I'm most definitely not going to be using it.
So all in all, it's not as fun as the Fall 2013 box, but I'll still find use for most of these products and I look forward to the next offering.
