The April Lipstick Challenge: Day 9 - 12
This is the third in my series of posts about my April Lipstick Challenge. Learn about the challenge and the rules, or check out what I wore for days 1-8.
I'm barely two weeks into this challenge and I'm already coming to some MAJOR conclusions about my past-beauty-life. One thing I've learned from digging through my giant pile of lipsticks is that I once really had a thing for fuschia and hot pink! This trend will continue in a few other bags, I'm sure.
On Days 9-12 I wore...
- Rimmel Lasting Finish In Vogue
- L'Oreal Infallible Coral Seduction
- L'Oreal Colour Riche Ruby Opera
- OCC Lip Tar Nylon
Rimmel Lasting Finish In Vogue
I think this Rimmel was the first hot pink lipstick I truly fell for, and I fell for it all over again when I wore this on Day 8. Friends, coworkers and strangers were complimenting me on how I carried off this blinding hue, so I couldn't bear to tell them that the lipstick transferred on EVERYTHING. If I even glanced at my lips it transferred! Also, the lipstick had the unfortunate habit of getting gummy and creating that 'lipstick film' between my lips. I think that this lipstick will be destined for the bin when this week is up, but it was nice taking it for one more spin. Also? This is one of my lipsticks with the MOST wear. Good night old friend.
L'Oreal Infallible Coral Seduction
I used to think that orange was only for the BOLD girl. Girls with long blonde hair, girls who fit in all the rompers, who dressed like Anthropologie models or looked like they went to Coachella. Then this lipstick came along. L'Oreal Infallible Coral Seduction welcomed me to the coral family with open arms. My lips looked sunny and it really made a marked difference on my complexion, brightening me up with every wear. The only downside is that this formula, called infallible (hah) is hardly infallible. It's drying and really sticky for a matte lipstick. It doesn't drag easily over the lips and I'm always conscious that it's on. This may be due to it getting old, but I think I'm going to have to make a new coral lover instead and toss this one. It'll hurt though, it'll hurt.
Let me know if you have any corals that you're in love with and help me replace this colour!
L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Ruby Opera
After two days of drying lipsticks, I was relieved to use a gloss on Day 11. I've already written about Ruby Opera and Orange Tempo previously, but I had a few more insights this time around. I've developed a love for these glosses because of their buildability. I can wear them very sheer, as as Ruby Opera leaves a pinkish hue, or I can build it to an intense glossy red. It's not the longest wearing at the highest opacity but these are REALLY GOOD drug store glosses, I can't say it enough. I'm currently on the hunt for one of the pinker-tones like Rose Melody or Rose Finale. It's a great option if you've been lusting for one of those amazing YSL Glossy Stains but are too practical to pay $38 for one.
OCC Lip Tar Nylon
Last but not least, one of my favourite Lip Tar's in my very small but growing collection is this bold, neon Barbie pink called, appropriately, Nylon. This was one of the lipsticks I didn't do a good enough job of getting images of the first day I wore it, so I took another stab at it later. If you usually do a subtler daily makeup look, or don't wear makeup at all, Nylon is the lip tar for you. It's perfect for lazy girls because ALL EYES go to your lips so noboddy will notice if your mascara is flaking or your eyeliner is smudged, or if you have anything else on at all! Visit Temptalia for a way better swatch than mine.
See you guys soon for Days 13-16!
