Tangle Teezer: The Original Detangling Hairbrush Review
When I was eighteen I made a pretty major life-change the day after prom - I cut off all my hair. I went from long, brown tresses that swept down my shoulder blades to a pixie cut that was en vogue in the early 00s. I loved the freedom, the 'wash-and-go' lifestyle, it was easy and convenient.
This would become a trend in my life, a few months after my university graduation I did the exact same thing. Short hair was my way of indicating a renewal, a change. But for the last three years I've kept my hair long and while I love the variety of things I can do and the feel of hair falling down my back again, there is ONE thing I hate.
The pain of hair-drying!
As long-maned ladies can attest, drying hair after a shower is one of the most dreaded parts of a daily routine. It usually requires a special detangling product, whether it's a spray or a serum, some sort of product to help coat the troublesome tresses into submission. My hair is so unwieldly that I've been known to break combs with even slight tangles in my hair! But the Tangle Teezer, a new award-winning product, claims to change all that.
What is the Tangle Teezer?
Tangle Teezer is a British hair detangling innovation created by a hairstylist with over 30 years experience. Its goal is to ease temperamental wet locks into submission with a neat handheld design and flexible teeth to brush through hair without snagging.
The Look
When I was approached to write a review of the Tangle Teezer, I made sure to choose a bright colour because I tend to lose brushes and combs in my bathroom. It comes in a variety of colours and all in this easy-to-hold, ergonomic shape. It's cute and playful and fits easily in your carry-on as an on-the-go brush.
The Feel
The Tangle Teezer swept through my hair breezily, I barely even felt it as I brushed out my hair post-shower. The numerously small, bendable teeth made it much easier to brush out and separate the parts of my hair before using my hair dryer. Keep in mind however, that the Tangle Teezer is NOT a heat-safe brush, if you like to style as you blow-dry, this isn't the tool for you.
The Result
I'm happy to report that the Tangle Teezer has already replaced one of my tools in my post-shower kit. I've used it for a week now to dry my hair and also to brush back my fringe, and it's a great tool for dry or wet hair. It's definitely not a styling tool, so it won't replace round brushes or heat-safe tools, but it's great for those tired of snapping combs when simply trying to tame a few tangles.
