NYX Cosmetics Haul!

It's about time!

Last month, after I had a super-long day at Generation Beauty, I made my way to the brand-new NYX Cosmetics store in the Toronto Eaton Centre to see what all the fuss was about! And, of course, I bought all of the things that I've lusted after for awhile that aren't carried in the Rexall or Shoppers Drug Mart racks, including some products that have been sold out online for ages (looking at you Risque!)

My NYX Cosmetic Store-Opening Haul:

  • NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Banana Split
  • NYX Matte Lipstick in Ultra Dare
  • NYX Macaron Lippie in Violet
  • NYX Wicked Lippie in Risque
  • NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Pink
  • NYX Coloured Felt Tip Liner in White

NYX Haul - Banana Split, Ultra Dare, Risque, Violet

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Banana Split
This is a VERY STARTLINGLY bright colour when you first put it on but the colour grows on you for sure. It's a hyper-pigmented gloss that settles nicely on the lips. You do have to reapply the gloss as it wears off and transfers, but I definitely have a big love for this colour. It's absolutely perfect for summer!

NYX Matte Lipstick in Ultra Dare
I bought this as an alternative to NYX Liquid Suede in Stone Fox. I've had some trouble removing my Liquid Suedes before and for SUCH a specific/dark/gothy colour I wanted to make sure I could remove easily if wanted. This is a nice creamy formula and while I like it, I probably won't wear it much until the fall as I've COMPLETELY moved to my summer tones and colours already.

NYX Wicked Lippie in Risque
I LOVE THIS COLOUR SO MUCH. It's a metallic emerald green, almost a Joker green, but it looks SO TERRIBLE ON ME. I'm sure there's somebody out there that this looks good on, like this girl on Instagram, but not me unfortunately. So much sad. :(

NYX Macaron Lippie in Violet
We all know I love a good purple lipstick. And while I had a dark plum, a violet, a few fuschias, I didn't have a good lavender colour... until now. This is yet another plump creme that doesn't leave my lips feeling too dry, but it does transfer and needs reapplication. Luckily it looks SUPER CUTE on me so I can't complain at all.

* NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Pink & NYX Coloured Felt Tip Liner in White

NYX Coloured Felt Tip Liner in White
While I was at Generation Beauty I waited for over 45 minutes (more like 65) to get into the NYX booth, which yes, is ridiculous. So when I got there I was VERY HAPPY to allow the makeup artist at the front of the line give me a freshening up of my white liner (I used a crummy Holika Holika cream eyeliner) and I was SO FLOORED by it that I bought it at the store that same day. I have a Lancome dip-pot one but this one is more like a pen and gives a different, softer look. I LOVE IT.

NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Pink
This was a bit of a fail. It's a gorgeous colour, it looks so striking on my eyes especially with my glasses, but I put it on and INSTANTLY my eyes burned! I wasn't sure if it was me, my allergies or what, but I'm going to try it one more time when my allergies calm down, if not I'm returning it. Seems like I'm mildly sensitive to metallic colours? Interesting.

But, the main reason I went was because at the Generation Beauty event, I actually won an eyeshadow palette from NYX. The catch was that it needed to be redeemed THAT DAY at the store, and I needed to make a purchase. But I could've purchased a $3 brush and left with my palette I bought the rest of this stuff because I wanted to! I took some beauty shots of the palette but they didn't turn out well, so that will have to be for another blog post!

Bonus Gift: Unbeknowest to me, I also qualified for a bonus gift since I spent over $50 at the store, I also came home with a Be Gone! Lip Color Remover which is BASICALLY THE BEST THING to remove the Nyx Liquid Suedes, who knew?!

What NYX have you grabbed recently?
