It's funny, the kind of conversations you find yourself having when you live with somebody. Simple things like toothpaste can become hilariously polarizing household issues if you're not careful! My boyfriend is a stalwart user of Sensodyne, while I hop from Crest to Colgate and back again. He prefers very specific flavours (mint, wintermint, super mint, mint!) while I'm cool with a baking soda flavour, or spearmint, or heck, even something crazier... like jasmine perhaps?

And this is where Marvis Toothpaste comes into play.

I recently received two of Marvis's latest products, Aquatic Mint and Jasmin Mint for review and took to brushing my teeth with these products for two weeks each to see how they did (I find it's hard to tell the difference in a toothpaste when using it for less than a month.) This Italian 'lifestyle toothpaste' marries a gorgeously designed product that basically screams 'Apartment Therapy!' with a formula that still keeps your teeth clean and your breath refreshed. But they each have their strengths and weakneses.

Aquatic Mint
I was really curious about this flavour because the name 'Aquatic' brought up images of sea salt, or kelp, or something that would provide a hint of the ocean in the scent. But it doesn't, it's just a SUPER minty toothpaste that leaves your breath dazzlingly minty. I really liked this product but could NOT use cold water while brushing, the mint is truly intense. I have mildly sensitive teeth and found that the intensity of the mint was a bit irritating, so only using it 1x a day with another toothpaste may remedy the issue. Or, those with less sensitive teeth won't have this issue at all.

Jasmin Mint
On the other hand, I had no such trouible with the Jasmin Mint toothpaste! If you're a fan of Choward's Violet Mints, this product is going to bring you right back to that glorious floral-mint flavour that you just can't describe, but adore. I didn't find my sensitive teeth had any problem with this formula, and although it was a bit disconcerting to associate jasmin with freshness, I got used to it pretty quickly.

Overally, these were two pretty interesting products. My only concern with them is that I'm so used to using sensitive teeth products that usually include potassium nitrate, which acts as a mild local sedative and reduces sensitivity in the gums. But if this doesn't affect you, these are just as good as any other toothpaste and with a unique variety of flavours to choose from like cinnamon, ginger and licorice!
