February 2015 & March 2015 Beauty Empties
This is no April Fool's Day joke, here are the small amount of empties I managed to polish off in February and March. But luckily for me, I managed to find a few real winners in these months... as well as some surprising duds!
Pure + Simple Restoration Eye Mask - I'm a big fan of sheet masks, so why not try eye masks for a concentrated hit of moisture and vitamins right where my exhaustion hits most? I actually really liked this product, it had a bit of kick and definitely soothed my tired eyes. The problem? They're $10! I think I'm going to stick to my sheet masks for now.
Jergens Ultra Care Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer - Everybody has a little Jergens in their life, and it usually smells like overly-scented soap. This is one of those moisturizers. It dries quickly but I really dislike the soap-y smell.
Jergens Shea Butter - Now THIS on the other hand, is a great Jergens product. The shea is sweet and slightly intoxicating and the formula really sinks into your skin, fixing all those 'wintery dry skin' problems! Despite the fact that I'm DROWNING IN MOISTURIZER, I may just have to pick up a bottle of this stuff...
Figs & Rouge Mango Mandarin Hand Cream - I wanted to like this product, because the mango mandarin smell was so gentle and light, perfect for an office-hand lotion, but it was just TOO WATERY. The lotion separated and it never truly moisturized my hands. Good riddance.
Veelightful Lemon Cuticle Balm - I've written about Veelightful before but I can't stress enough how much I live for her cuticle balms. Even though I'm BASICALLY THE WORST when it comes to cuticle health, this cuticle balm keeps me from looking absolutely ragged. Also? All natural and made in Toronto!
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream - Another empties post, another post about CeraVe! It's moisturizing cream, nuff said.
Blistex Lip Medex - I finished this year's tube of Blistex, so it must mean that winter is finally over... right? I use this stuff from late-fall to spring every year (if I don't lose it first) and it never, ever fails. One of my favourite all-time products.
The Body Shop Born Lippy Satsuma Shimmer Lip Balm - I found this product in ne of my makeup bags and opening it up was like a blast from the past! I used to be a huuuuge Body Shop addict and Satsuma was one of my favourite scents. That said, I'm not a big fan of lip product pots, I prefer the (much more sanitary) tube-form, and the shimmer is soooo very 00's of me, I don't really crave gloss with shimmer much these days. You can't really go wrong for $6 however, so if you like lip pots, go wild!
TRESemme FreshStart Dry Shampoo Strengthening - I bought this dry shampoo and knew almost INSTANTLY that I wasn't going to like this one. After my first few uses, I realized the scent was way too strong and the formula left my hair clean but matted and almost sticky at times? I used this only in the most desperate of times and have started a small collection of other brands to find my 'dream' product.
Pantene Aqualight Conditioner - I really like this lightweight formula and always have a few of these travel-sized ones kicking around. It leaves a lot less residue than other leading conditioners.
Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins - I already wrote about how much I love this night cream so much that the first time I typed it, I typed 'night dream'. It's a delightful and luxuriously rich evening moisturizer infused with vitamin C, E & H that has the added bonus of smelling like a high-end creamsicle! It's an absolute keeper in my opinion.
Dermalogica Precleanse - If you told me a few years ago that I'd use oil to cleanse my face of dirt, make-up and debris, I'd say you were crazy! Dermalogica's Precleanse has a great citral smell, and uses olive, apricot and kukui (whaa) to help emulsify the oil. I'm currently cheating on it with a few other oils but so far it's the winner.
Vasanti Brighten Up! Exfoliating Face Rejuvenator - This was a product in my Birchbox a few months ago and it's quickly become one of my favourite finds of 2015. It's a micro-exfoliant but unfortunately the type of exfoliant it uses is aluminum oxide, one of the products I'm avoiding due to how they pollute the environment.
Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths Brightening - I have a weakness for vanilla and citrus, that is true, but I don't have a weakness for wipes that cost almost a DOLLAR A WIPE. They are nice, but not that nice. Okbai.
Almay Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover Pads - Meh. I got this for $2 but the formula is a bit too strong. I felt like the wipes were too saturated and oily and left more gunk on my face than it took off. I can't recommend this. Coconut oil and cotton pads are a much better idea.
Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover for Glitter - It's not a BAD nail polish remover but it's not as amazing as it promises to be. It's just a jar with a sponge on the side, saturated with remover, and a small scrubbing tool. I could make my own for less than $10.
And that's that! A good month for stuff, if I do say so myself.
